Baseboard Heater Tip

Small adjustments like this can improve comfort and help balance heating throughout your home.

In this short video, we explain a simple but often overlooked feature of baseboard heating: adjustable vents. By opening or closing the vent, you can control how much heat flows into a room and redirect warmth to other areas of your home—no tools or thermostat changes required.

  • If you have baseboard heating like this, one thing people may not realize is that the vents are adjustable.

When the vents are open, heat flows directly into that area. But if you want to cool the room down—or redirect heat to another baseboard elsewhere in the house—you can simply adjust the vent to close it.

If you later decide you want more heat in this room, just push the vent back open, and it will allow warm air to flow again.
